Why you should not paint your house white?

We've learned that white is a color that is prone to dirt, stains and dust, making it highly maintainable. In addition, the twisted white color can also make the house feel barren and lifeless. White walls are not for those of us who are prone to overanalyzing the way the color changes depending on the location and the way the light hits the wall. Like a movie screen, the white walls will tell you the story that is projected on them, whatever it may be.

It's important to choose the right paint finish, especially for white paint that shows all stains and scratches. A washable finish is a necessity in rooms with high traffic, so matte or flat paint finishes are eliminated. Eggshell or satin finishes are a good choice because of their stain resistance, durability, long life, coverage and ease of cleaning. Glossy finishes require little maintenance because they are washable, stain resistant and easy to clean, but can be problematic on white walls.

Keep in mind that if your walls aren't smooth or have cracks or imperfections, brighter paints can accentuate those flaws. The exterior had previously been a greenish putty color, not an unattractive shade, but as soon as it was painted with a dark anthracite gray (specifically Benjamin Moore's Night Fall), the house was transformed into a beauty. This, of course, set me on a path of envy (like the dangers of Instagram) that led me to plan a paint makeover for my own house. That said, if you have your whole heart set on doing it yourself and your house is single-story and relatively free of details, consider hiring professionals to do the hard work of preparing your house and property (including pressure washing, patching, sanding and scraping), and then you can paint it yourself.

Drywall dust, sawdust and ordinary household dust spread easily and far away in the house and prevent the tape from being completely sealed, thus creating an unsightly texture under the paint. If you must paint in spring, or even fall or winter, consider using paint that is suitable for temperatures as low as 35 degrees. Place that wall shelf, change the faucet and paint the walls yourself. You're likely to save a lot of money doing DIY, but when it comes to painting the exterior of your home, it's best to hire professionals.

You've probably heard that the best time to paint your house is when the weather is nice and that's largely true. Now I've watched enough episodes of House Hunters to know that you never depend on the decision to buy a house or not depending on the color of the paint, the wallpaper or the finish of the hardware. To transform her tiny house in Connecticut, stylist Kate McCann simply gave the interiors a fresh coat of white paint. When I repainted the house with BM Classic Gray, I knew from previous experience with this room that I needed to increase the color power of the paint.

There's still no house to take paint samples to, so I couldn't check it beforehand and the only other color option was a gentle tan and that was for sure.
